Good Storytellers Fuel the Content Game

 Every day, a new buzzword appears in the marketing world. However, there is one word that is timeless and more important than ever. That buzzword is “storytelling.” We’re obsessed with it and it is fueling the content game.

Marketing is all about telling good stories. Social media marketing is about getting your customers to tell the story for you. 

Stories are powerful and memorable. Almost everything we know has been given to us in the form of a story.

Good stories fuel conversations and allow your business to become a trusted source.

So, how do you become a good storyteller?

  1. BE REAL – Make sure your story reflects that you are a business made up of real people, communicating to real people. Talk like a human that cares about making meaningful relationships with people. Clarity is more important than big, fancy words.
  2. SAY IT WITH GREAT PHOTOS – It’s worth investing in a professional photographer to take pictures of your office, team, and your products or projects. Stock photography has a place, but it will never perform as well as photos of your business in real life. Photos allow people to get to know you and are a great addition to your blog and social media channels.
  3. SHARE YOUR VISION & PURPOSE – Share your ‘WHY’ as much as your ‘WHAT’. Don’t just push your product or services. Share with people why you do what you do. Your customers care just as much about the people behind your company as they do about the product or service you provide.
  4. MAKE YOUR IDEAL CLIENT THE HERO – Use a story to get your target audience to play an active role in the use of your product or service. All stories have heros and usaully the hero is the most loved character. Create a story that paints the picture of your customer’s journey to solve a problem they face and make that customer the hero in the story.

Now that you know the power of storytelling, you can replicate the same effect when you work stories into your content. 

It takes practice to be an expert storyteller, but you’ll realize it’s worth it in the end.
