The Biggest Mistake 88% of Small Businesses Make with Facebook

One of the biggest mistakes small business owners make with Facebook is they don’t realize the difference between personal Facebook profiles and Business Pages nor do they know the difference between Facebook page posts and Facebook Advertising.

Facebook posts are unpaid posts that you simply make on your Facebook page (pretty much the same as how it works on your own personal Facebook profile).

Facebook Ads are paid advertisements (made in the Facebook Ads Manager) that are displayed to a targeted group of people based on interests, past behavior, website views, location, age, etc.

Facebook posts are what most business pages use to try to connect with their fans.

Facebook Ads are what the top businesses are using to target the customers they want.

Why is this important to know?

In an effort to skyrocket annual revenue, Facebook changed the ranking algorithm for organic posts, which drastically decreased the number of views that your organic (unpaid) Facebook posts get. This means that if your page has 100,000 likes, and you posted a photo in 2010, around 25-50% of your 100,000 likes (or followers) would see the post. But in 2018, only around 2%of your 100,000 likes ever see your Facebook page posts. Instead, you are forced to use Facebook Ads to get your content in front of more potential customers in your desired location.

ADVANTAGES OF FACEBOOK ADS OVER REGULAR POSTS

  • Reach more people
  • Advanced targeting
  • Unique ad formats
  • Advanced Analytics
  • Optimize Campaigns

You need to create both a Facebook Business Manager account and a Facebook Ad account in order to be able to run advertisements, and few businesses are aware of this and have no clue on how to set it up – 88% of business owners do not have these accounts set up.

Did you know, 45% of our small business owner clients had set up their Facebook business page as a personal profile instead of an actual page! You cannot advertise as a personal profile on Facebook and worst of all, this mistake can cost you all of your “friends” when you go to correct the issue and get them to “like” your business page.

If you are still paying $3,000+ per month on billboards, Yellow Pages, SEO, radio ads, etc., you may want to try out Facebook Ads.
